Pouffe and Bench Models
Pouffes and benches are versatile pieces that provide additional seating, footrests, and decorative corners without the need to rearrange a space. At Kastra, we have been producing pouffe and bench models since 2011, which, with their fabric and leather upholstery options and various leg structures, adapt to many areas from the living room to the bedroom and the hallway. On this page, you will find the differences between pouffes and benches, options for upholstery, dimensions and usage, as well as points to consider when choosing the right piece. You can contact us directly for your special fabric and dimension requests.
The Difference Between Pouffe and Bench
Although pouffes and benches look similar, they cater to different needs. A pouffe is mostly a single-person, lightweight, and portable seating or footrest piece; it can also be used as a side table when a tray is placed on it if necessary. A bench, on the other hand, is longer and is generally in the form of a seat where two or three people can sit side by side. Both are flexible pieces that complement the main seating group.
Models and Upholstery
Pouffe Models
In our pouffe models, the frame is upholstered with fabric or leather and filled to ensure seating comfort. Round models like the Moss pouffe, with a 60 cm diameter and 46 cm height, are used as an individual additional seating unit or as a piece accompanying a sofa set. The soft form and upholstered surface provide comfort for long periods of sitting. The cornerless structure of the round form also facilitates movement as a piece standing in the middle of the living room. You can determine the fabric or leather selection according to your space. For pouffes to be used as footrests, the upper surface should not be too soft, which provides a supportive seat for the legs.
Bench Models
Our bench models are prepared in different structures according to their place of use. While models with wooden legs like Chic give a warm and classic look, the Cesca Chrome Legged Rattan Bench offers a lighter and more modern line with its chrome legs and rattan weave. The Cesca Tufted Leather Cushioned Bench is a more ostentatious option with its tufted leather cushion. Models like Mirea are also included in this group. We recommend choosing the bench width according to how many people will sit side by side; approximately 50 cm per person provides comfortable seating.
Upholstery: Fabric, Leather, Rattan
Upholstery is the most decisive factor in choosing a pouffe or bench, as these pieces stand out both as a seating surface and as a decorative element. It offers different options such as fabric, leather, and rattan, and we determine the upholstery according to the color and texture of your space. While fabrics like velvet and linen give a warm texture, leather cushioned models provide an easier-to-clean and more ostentatious surface.
Leg Structure
The leg structure affects both the appearance and the durability. Wooden legs are suitable for classic and warm spaces, while chrome and metal legs are suitable for modern and industrial spaces. We can change the color of wooden and metal components according to your order; thus, the pouffe or bench stands in the same line as your existing furniture. Protective stoppers at the ends of the legs protect the surface against scratching on parquet and laminate floors.
Dimensions and Placement
When choosing a pouffe and bench, it is necessary to determine the dimensions according to the place of use. A bench placed at the foot of the bed looks more balanced when it is slightly narrower than the width of the bed; a bench of full width closes off the room. The depth of the bench in the entrance and hall should be chosen in a way that does not narrow the transition corridor. In the living room, the pouffe should be of a size that fits into the space between the coffee table and the sofa and can be pulled out when necessary. Round models with a diameter of 60 cm, like the Moss pouffe, provide this flexibility.
Height Compatibility
Height determines how the pouffe and bench will be used. A pouffe to be used as a footrest should be close to or a few centimeters below the seating height of the sofa it accompanies; a higher pouffe lifts the legs up and spoils comfort. If it is to be used as additional seating, the seating height should be close to a standard chair. In the case of bed-end benches, compatibility with the bed height determines comfortable use while putting on shoes.
Color and Fabric Options
Color and fabric options vary according to the model, and current options are listed on the product cards. You can request the same model with different fabrics or leathers and create a combination special to your space.
Areas of Use
Where the pouffe and bench will be used largely determines the right model. Below, residential use and commercial use are discussed separately.
Residential Use
In residential use, pouffes and benches add flexibility to the space. In the living room, the pouffe is used as additional seating or a footrest piece for the sofa set; it is easily carried when guests arrive. In the bedroom, the bench stands at the foot of the bed both as a seat and a decorative complement. In the entrance and hall, the bench provides a practical solution for sitting while putting on shoes; models with an open bottom also allow for shoe storage in the same area. The portability of these pieces allows you to easily change where they are used at home. In homes with children, cornerless round pouffe forms are a safer option as a piece standing in the middle of the living room.
Commercial and Project Use
In commercial and project use, pouffes and benches respond to the need for flexible seating. In hotel rooms, a bed-end bench, and in lobbies and waiting areas, pouffes and benches provide additional seating. In restaurants and cafes, the bench is placed along the wall to use the space efficiently. In these projects, we can produce many pieces in the same fabric and color, and prepare custom dimensions and upholstery for the space.
Custom Production
The determinant of custom production for pouffes and benches is the height, because these pieces do not work alone, but alongside another piece of furniture. A bench to be placed at the foot of the bed should be determined according to the bed height, a bench to be placed by a table according to the chair seating height, and a pouffe to be used for extending the legs according to the seating surface of the sofa. We produce the height according to this match, and we also choose the fabric, leather, and leg color according to the order. It is sufficient for you to convey the height of the furniture that will be placed next to it so that we can find the right dimension.
How to Choose a Pouffe and Bench?
Selection Criteria
We recommend you look at a few concrete points to choose the right pouffe or bench. The first is the purpose of use: a pouffe is suitable for flexible single-person seating or a footrest, and a bench is suitable for side-by-side seating or for the foot of a bed. The second is the dimensions; the area where the piece will be placed and the transition space to be left around it should be measured. The third is the upholstery and legs; fabric offers a warm texture, leather offers easy cleaning, and wooden or metal legs offer a different look according to the style of the space.
Maintenance and Cleaning
Maintenance directly affects the life of the pouffe and bench. We recommend dry cleaning for upholstered surfaces; cleaning suitable for the structure of the fabric prolongs the life of the surface. We recommend wiping wooden and metal legs with a damp cloth and drying them with a dry cloth. In case of liquid contact, wiping the surface immediately with a dry cloth and keeping the product away from direct sunlight preserves the texture and color.
Warranty and Production
The warranty period varies according to the model and is specified separately on the product card; periods of up to 2 years for our wooden-framed bench models and up to 5 years for our upholstered seating group products are applied. Since pouffes and benches have a different construction from our chair categories, the warranty period is also evaluated separately. You can find current models, fabric, and color options on the product cards;armchairs and sofasandbergereby evaluating them together with our models, you can create an integrated seating arrangement. For your special fabric, dimension, and project requests, we can determine the solution suitable for you together if you convey the details of your space and where the piece will be used.
