Porcelain Table Models

A porcelain table is a type of table with a top covered in a porcelain surface, often preferred for high-traffic dining areas. Porcelain differs from wood and laminate surfaces in daily use due to its stain-resistant, heat-resistant, and easy-to-clean structure. As Kastra, porcelain-topped models have been part of the tables we have been manufacturing since 2011. On this page, you will find porcelain table models, shape options, and points to consider when choosing the right table.

Advantages of a Porcelain Surface

The most prominent advantage of a porcelain surface is its ease of maintenance. Thanks to its non-porous structure, liquids and oils do not penetrate the surface; spilled drinks can be wiped away with a damp cloth. Hot pots and plates do not leave marks on the surface, which provides practical use in the kitchen and dining room. Since it is also highly resistant to scratching, the surface retains its original appearance for a long time during daily use.

What is Porcelain and How Does It Differ from Ceramic?

A porcelain top is produced from a fine-grained material fired at high temperatures, resulting in a non-porous structure. Non-porosity is the defining feature of this surface: because liquid cannot enter the material, stains remain on the surface and can be wiped off. It has a denser and harder structure compared to ordinary ceramics. This density increases the surface's resistance to both scratches and heat, and delays the surface from becoming dull over the years.

Comparison with Wood and Marble

Three surfaces correspond to different priorities. Solid wood provides a warm texture and can be sanded and renewed years later; however, it requires the use of coasters when in contact with heat and liquids. Marble and travertine add weight to the space but are more sensitive to acidic liquids and require periodic protective applications. Porcelain does not carry the maintenance burden of these two surfaces; it is the option that requires the least intervention in daily use. The decision depends as much on the time you want to dedicate to maintenance as it does on your aesthetic preference.

Shape Options

Our porcelain table models are produced in different shapes. Rectangular tops offer more surface area in large dining rooms and for crowded gatherings. Round porcelain table options provide ease of movement in narrow and transition areas with their cornerless structure; our models such as Orbit, Nivio, and Ovia belong to this group. Oval porcelain table shapes combine the surface width of a rectangle with soft edges. Porcelain round table models allow more people to sit comfortably without feeling cramped around the same diameter.

Compatibility of Table Top and Legs

The tabletop and legs should be evaluated together. Due to its weight, a porcelain top requires a sturdy carrier; metal or solid wood legs carry this weight in a balanced way. In round models with a single central leg, chairs can be placed freely around the table. In rectangular models with corner legs, it should be checked in the seating plan that the chair does not collide with the leg.

Choosing the Dimensions

Porcelain table dimensions are determined according to the room layout and the number of people. Having enough space around the table for chairs to be pulled out comfortably directly affects daily use. Compact round tops in small kitchens and long rectangular tops in large dining rooms create a more balanced arrangement.

What Size Do You Need for How Many People?

Calculating the size based on the number of people is the most reliable method. In our project planning, we base our calculations on approximately 60 cm of table edge per person; for round tops, the calculation is made based on the circumference. Additional space is required at every edge for chairs to be pushed back; even if the size is adequate, if this space is missing, the layout will remain cramped. We recommend leaving approximately 90 cm between the table edge and the wall.

Tabletop Thickness and Appearance

Tabletop thickness is a visible detail that determines the character of the table. Thin tops provide a light and modern silhouette, while thick tops look more grounded and substantial. Thickness also affects the edge detail: while the edge line looks sharp on thin tops, it reads as a continuation of the surface on thick tops. We recommend evaluating your leg selection together with the tabletop thickness; a thick leg under a thin top will disrupt the proportion.

Porcelain Tabletop in Businesses

In restaurant and café halls, a porcelain tabletop significantly reduces the burden of daily cleaning. In a surface wiped dozens of times a day, the stain-resistant structure allows the service team to prepare the table quickly. The ability to place hot plates and cups directly on the surface also eliminates the need for coasters. In high-turnover venues, the durability of the edge detail of the top becomes important; this is the area that receives the most impact. For project purchases, sourcing the tabletop pattern from the same batch preserves the consistency of appearance throughout the hall.

Surface Texture: Matte or Glossy?

In porcelain tabletops, the surface texture affects both the appearance and daily use. Glossy surfaces reflect light and make the space look brighter; however, fingerprints and water stains are more visible on these surfaces. Matte textures show marks less and remain practical for high-use kitchen tables. In patterned tabletops, veins that give a natural stone look visually disperse small marks on the surface.

Usage Areas

Home Use

In home use, a porcelain table is used for both daily meals and guest gatherings. In the kitchen, the heat and stain resistance of the surface provides practicality during breakfast and meal preparation. In the dining room, the matte or glossy texture of the porcelain surface adds a modern line to the space. In chair selection, models with metal legs harmonize with the simple line of porcelain; you can examine ourmetal chairoptions.

Business Use

In business use, a porcelain table withstands intensive service in restaurants and cafés. The absence of wear on a surface that is constantly wiped means a long-lasting solution for the business. For project-based work, we can produce many tables with the same tabletop and leg combination.

Porcelain Table Prices

Porcelain table prices vary according to the tabletop size, thickness, surface pattern, and leg structure. Two tables produced in the same shape may be priced differently based on the choice of tabletop and legs. Current porcelain table models and prices are listed on the product cards.

Maintenance

Maintenance is quite simple for a porcelain table. The surface is wiped with a damp cloth; for stubborn stains, a soft sponge is sufficient. Abrasive cleaning powders and steel wool should be avoided. In models with wooden legs, wiping the leg section with a damp cloth and drying it ensures the protection of the wood.

Production and Warranty

Maintenance and Points to Consider

Maintenance of the porcelain surface is easy: wiping with a damp cloth is sufficient in most cases. However, being a hard and dense material does not mean it is flexible against impact; a heavy object falling on the edge may cause cracking. Therefore, we recommend protecting the tabletop edges from impact. Abrasive powders and metal scouring pads should be avoided during cleaning. During transport, the tabletop is always kept in a vertical position; it is stressed by its own weight during horizontal transport.

Delivery and Transport

Tables with porcelain tops require a transport plan due to the weight of the top. We recommend that you check the width of the door the table will enter, the staircase turns, and the elevator dimensions before ordering. Products are delivered to the building entrance; installation requests in the Marmara region are evaluated. Checking that all legs make full contact with the floor after installation prevents future wobbling.

Production and Warranty

Our tables include a repair and replacement guarantee against manufacturing defects. You can browse ourtable collectionfor all table options, and ourdining tablemodels for solid wood and marble alternatives. For your custom size and project requests, we can determine the appropriate solution for you together if you provide the dimensions of your space. Since scratches and impact marks that may occur on the porcelain surface cannot be repaired, we recommend that no direct cutting is performed on the tabletop and that coasters are used for hot vessels.
